BUSINESSES of La Manga have called for urgent traffic and transport improvements to be made before the start of the summer season.
Meeting with the Minister of Fomento and Infrastructures, Pedro Rivera, entrepreneurs said they wanted measures put in place to improve traffic at the entrance of the La Manga strip to avoid traffic jams, and to public transport, to speed up and improve access.
They complained of the continual traffic jams every summer and believe that better regulation of the traffic lights, eliminating roundabouts and greater police surveillance at peak times will help improve the traffic flow. They also asked for more buses to service the route between Cabo de Palos and Veneziola and a shuttle bus service between La Manga and San Javier airport.
Pedro Rivera said the Strategic Plan for the Revitalisation of La Manga del Mar Menor is underway and has been granted €8.5 million from European funds.
