Murderer caught in El Campello

GUARDIA CIVIL officers have arrested a Moldovan national in El Campello who was wanted for murder in his own country.

The 39-year-old man, who had been living in Torrevieja since 2015, was intercepted by the police whilst travelling on a bus from Alicante to Paris.

Officers stopped the bus, which was heading north towards Valencia, at a checkpoint on the AP-7 El Campello exit.  

They proceeded to check on all passengers and came across the man who was using false documents, which raised their suspicions.

During a detailed search of his belongings the officers discovered the man’s true identity along with €3,500 in cash.

The man was wanted on two international arrest warrants issued by Interpol, one for shooting a fellow national and then beating him to death, the other for embezzlement.
