Two Vietnamese girls, 13, spend four days living in Barcelona Airport

TWO Vietnamese girls spent four days living in a transit lounge at Barcelona’s El Prat airport before being noticed by staff.

The 13-year-olds were only stopped when they tried to enter the airport’s Schengen area where there are no border controls.

A police spokesperson said the pair were disorientated and crying but they gave no details as to how they had arrived at the airport or where they were intending to go.

The girls had four mobile phones as well as cash, leading police to believe they may have missed a connecting flight to take them outside Europe.

According to a police spokesperson, the Mossos d’Esquadra believe it may be a case of human trafficking and have launched a full investigation.

The airport has been criticised for not spotting the pair sooner, as Spain is still operating on high terrorist alert.
