More firearms discovered in the hands of crooks in Spain

THE first month of 2017 has seen a number of discoveries of illegally held weapons and officers of the National Police have seized several more following raids in the area of Barcelona which saw six people arrested.

An investigation into the activities of a Moroccan male commenced in 2016 as officers believed that he was involved in the sale of illicit weapons and culminated in the seizure of an AK47, machine pistols, rifles and other weapons as well as drugs.

During the course of the investigation the existence of a gang made up of Moroccans and Spaniards became apparent and those identified were suspected of being involved in the sale of illegal weapons to other criminals.

Whilst the leader of the gang travelled to Norway in December, it appeared that the gang was heavily involved in supplying weapons during that month but they went quiet upon his return until the middle of January and officers suspected that they were preparing to ship a large number of weapons.

The Moroccan and one of the gang were seen transporting heavy objects in a shopping trolley outside his house which were loaded into a vehicle and it was decided to intercept them and relieve them of the illegal arms that they were carrying.

Subsequent to this the homes and storage areas of other members of the gang were raided with a huge collection of firearms, cartridges, edged weapons, bulletproof vests, police badges and one kilo of narcotics seized.
