Presentation of the car, chalice and mitre
WHEN it was announced by the Vatican that the new Bishop of Gibraltar would the Right Reverend Carmelo Zammit, who at the time was resident in Malta, the mayor of Gibraltar launched a special fund to collect funds to allow for the purchase of a welcome gift for the new Bishop.
Now that the collection which included donations from the public and local parishes has closed with a grand total of £12,100, it was arranged for Mayor Adolfo Canepa to present the Bishop with a new car as well as a new chalice and mitre for his personal use when undertaking his duties.
