Drugs bust in Velez-Malaga

DRUGS LAB: Was using stolen electricity.

NATIONAL POLICE officers have found and dismantled a marihuana laboratory in Velez-Malaga, which was located in a house.

They have arrested four people, three men and one woman, all of Spanish nationality, for their alleged part in drug trafficking and stealing electricity from the grid. Among those arrested was a 26-year-old man who was making use of the laboratory, which contained 172 plants.

The investigation began in October on the basis of a tip received by police about a group of drug traffickers.  Upon further investigation, the police found a strong smell of marijuana and the sound of machinery.  Police then identified and located those responsible, amongst whom are the residents of the house in which the crop was found.

Police also found that, although the house had no electricity contract, it had a power supply both to the laboratory and to the residence. As a result of their investigations and in addition to the marihuana plants found, police seized eight grams of cocaine, a gun, a taser, 41.2 grams of hashish, fertilizer and other tools for growing cannabis.
