IN PICTURES: The day Spain went white

THE Siberian cold snap has left the majority of Spain covered in a blanket of snow leaving some villages cut off for most of the day.

Emergency preparations have successfully cleared roads meaning that most areas were not snowed in for long. 

However, red alerts have been issued in Alicante and Valencia, where even more snow is forecast over the course of the night.
