Coke not cock found in Algeciras container

THE Algeciras Customs Risk Analysis Unit made up by officers from the Guardia Civil and the Tax Agency, have found more than 445 kilos of cocaine hidden in a container in the Port of Algeciras.

Using profiling methods, the unit concluded that the container which was travelling from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates via Algeciras should be investigated and when they opened it, they found the cocaine hidden amongst a consignment of frozen chickens.

According to the Guardia Civil report, this was an example of a ‘blind hook’ operation whereby illegal merchandise was added to a legal container without the knowledge of the shipper.

Officers concluded that two men, one from Algeciras and one from Malaga were involved with this illegal shipment and both have been arrested whilst the case remains open as investigations continue.
