THE full impact of the damage from the recent storms is being assessed along the Segura river.
The Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS) has said they’re still looking at damage done to the river bed but have ensured they’ll allocate funds to recover and repair the infrastructures damaged along the Sefura.
Along the stretch from Orihuela to Beniel, tons of reeds and waste have accumulated and a crack of around 20m has appeared.
The City of Orihuela has said they are waiting for a meeting with the CHS to discuss the work and cleanliness of the channel. It comes after a visit by the National Deputies Jose Manuel García-Margallo and Joaquin Albadalejo, to Orihuela. They were greeted by Mayor Emilio Bascuñana and visited the Orihuela Costa to see the damage done by the storms.
