Ex-Premier League striker to become world’s highest paid player

Tevez will earn around €720,000 a week

CARLOS TEVEZ has signed a deal with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua which will make him the world’s highest paid player.

The ex-Manchester United forward will reportedly earn around €720,000 a week, 20 times his previous wages.

Tevez, 32, re-joined Boca Juniors last year from Juventus and scored 25 goals in 56 games for them.

His boyhood club said: “Good Luck Carlitos. You will always be in our hearts.”

The striker will be joining former Premier League forwards Demba Ba and Obafemi Martins and will be coached by Gus Poyet, who at one time managed Sunderland.

After passing a medical test Tevez will begin pre-season training with the rest of the club on the Japanese island of Okinawa until late January.

Tevez is the latest superstar signing by a Chinese club, who have taken on the Brazilians Hulk and Ramires and fellow Argentinian forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
