Drunken Brit jailed over champagne fight on Ibiza flight

A BRITISH boxing coach who drunkenly wrestled with airline staff over a stolen bottle of champagne on an Ibiza-Doncaster flight has been jailed.

Scunthorpe native Daniel Beacock pled guilty to drinking excessively and making a nuisance of himself on the May 25 flight and has been given a four-month sentence by the Doncaster Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard how Beacock, 43, drunk a quarter litre of vodka disguised in a water bottle before take off. He had even posted photos of himself drinking on Facebook at the airport.

On the flight Beacock continued drinking his own vodka and snatched a bottle of champagne from the trolley, trying to cork it to the alarm of attendents.

The prosecutor described a ‘brief wrestling match’ over the bottle and siad that two female passengers were forced to move seats.

Police met the aircraft at Robin Hood airport and Beacock was charged with being drunk and threatening and abusive behaviour towards staff.

Beacock has since said that he was ‘ashamed of himself’ and ‘would never touch a drop of alcohol on a plane again’.
