Cloned credit card fraudsters nabbed in Torrevieja

CLONED CARDS: Were used to buy products online.

A SWEDE and a Spaniard from Torrevieja have been charged with fraud after using cloned credit cards to briefly live the Costa high life, buying expensive products online and spending nights in luxury hotels in Spain and France.

The devious pair, both males aged 30, scanned the credit card details of unsuspecting local residents and used complex technology to manufacture new cards which they could use at the hotels or for their purchases online.

They were eventually caught out when two victims reported their alarming bank statements to police who were able to track down the culprits.

Investigators believe they stole around €3,500 but there may be other victims out there who didn’t notice the difference in their accounts.
