Woman dies in ATV plunge

OVER THE EDGE: The vehicle crashed into the traffic barrier and then plunged 15 metres.

A 56-YEAR-OLD Malaga City resident died on Tuesday December 6 after a spectacular traffic accident in the La Cala de Moral area near Rincon de la Victoria. The victim was driving along the A-7 motorway in an all-terrain vehicle.

She was the only occupant of the ATV and police sources have indicated that there were no other vehicles involved in the accident. The incident occurred shortly before 7pm.

The woman was driving on an overpass when she crashed into the traffic barrier, which witnesses said had the effect of a trampoline. The vehicle went over the edge and plunged 15 metres, ending up in a roundabout.

Fortunately, no other vehicles had been using the roundabout at the time. Witnesses indicated that the woman was still alive in the immediate aftermath of the fall, but when emergency workers arrived, she was pronounced dead.
