Fugitive Briton arrested in Spain for sex abuse

TRACKED DOWN: British man was arrested in Benidorm after fleeing to Spain.

A British man who fled to Spain before he could be jailed for life for sex offences against two young brothers, has been arrested in Benidorm.

After an international arrest warrant was issued for the man, who has not been named, he was tracked down within 24 hours of the order being issued.

His crimes relate to sex offences carried out against two boys, aged 14 and 16, between 2007 and 2010.

National Police said the man had befriended the parents of the boys who allowed him to spend unsupervised time with them. He was subsequently charged with 22 offences. In the British courts the man was jailed for rape, incitement to engage in sexual relations with minors, assault and other offences.

It is understood he was jailed for a total of 43 years, but the tariff imposed by the judge is not known.
