THE Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Commerce have jointly organised this year’s Winter Party in Town, which will take place on Saturday December 3 at the former coach park on Queensway running from 4.30pm to 11pm.

The party will start with a local band and local DJ Lazy Daiz playing all types of music genres to suit all ages. A magic show will give a preview to next week’s Gibraltar International Magic Festival then local band Jetstream will be the main stage support act, with a 90 minute set.

This year’s headline act will be the internationally-renowned band ABBA GOLD as part of their European Tour 2016. An amazing two hour musical tribute to one of the best bands in the world, the show includes a fantastic set up production with constant videos of ABBA via a gigantic LED Screen. ABBA GOLD are celebrating their 23 year anniversary and have performed over 3,500 shows to nearly three million people worldwide.

Away from the main stage, Santa’s Grotto will be open from 4.30pm, traditional children’s activities and characters will be present, and a Christmas market will include face-painting and food and drinks stalls. An all-weather stage will be set up for the occasion. The event once again has been carefully designed to make it a family day event for all to enjoy.

As part of the celebrations the Christmas fair attractions at John Mackintosh Square will be free of charge all day.

The Minister for Culture, the Hon Steven Linares, said: “I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has helped financially in making our Winter Party in Town possible. Once again government and local businesses unite in providing quality entertainment of for the benefit of the community.”
