POLICE PURSUIT: On both land and sea.
GUARDIA CIVIL officers seized nearly a tonne and a half of hashish from a boat which ran aground near the Guadiaro River.
A police vessel spotted the suspicious looking boat making its way through the open sea towards a coastal stretch in Estepona’s municipal boundary.
Several police boats followed the vessel as it made its way towards Sotogrande and San Roque. Anticipating that the boat was moving toward the shore, a police presence was set up on the ground. The boat attempted to evade capture but it merely ended up running aground near the mouth of the Guadiaro River.
The police officers on the ground pounced upon the vessel, and discovered 48 packages of hashish stashed inside. One man was arrested after attempting to make a run for it across the beach. The boat was reportedly of Moroccan origin.
