DIESEL FUEL: The gang forced open the containers of two oil tankers.
A GUARDIA CIVIL investigation in Olula del Rio has led to the arrest of two men who are accused of stealing large quantities of diesel fuel after a break-and-enter-style robbery on an industrial unit.
The raid took place on Rambla La Tonta, in the municipality of Fines, where the gang forced open the containers of two oil tankers which were parked up there.
This was the third such incident to occur on the same street since July, leading investigators to conduct a detailed forensic survey of the scene.
Their analysis led them to the first suspect, who was already known to police following a series of earlier crimes and arrests.
Upon confronting the man at his home he immediately confessed, but detectives had a hunch that he had not been working alone, and their hypothesis proved correct as a second individual was detained.
Once in custody, it emerged that the crooked pair had also broken into a warehouse in Macael, where they appropriated 165 litres of diesel and 13 vehicle batteries, which they later sold on.
