DONATION: Miguel Diaz and Social Welfare councillor Ana Perles.
THE Rotary Club in Calpe presented Social Services with a laptop for its Educational Care Programme (PAE).
This belongs to the town hall’s Social Welfare department and assists pupils with problems, including those who have been expelled from the town’s state schools.
The PAE programme which is supervised by two teachers and a childcare expert, usually attends to between 15 and 20 pupils in this situation. In addition it monitors the absenteeism that affects 150 children from approximately 100 Calpe families. Pupils with some type of addiction come under the municipal programme although these cases, and sometimes their families, are also referred to municipal programmes led by educational psychologists
The Rotary Club paid for the laptop through fines, explained the association’s president.
