CAMINITO DEL REY: Visitors were targeted.
THE Guardia Civil have apprehended two young “Eastern European” men who performed numerous robberies on cars parked at famous tourist spots throughout Malaga province.
The looters were spotted breaking into cars at the iconic Caminito del Rey in Ardales, although it later transpired that they were also guilty of committing similar break-ins in Mijas, Fuengirola, Nerja and Coin.
They targeted foreign tourists driving hire cars, smashing one or more windows to gain access before plundering valuables from the interior and boot.
The crooked couple were caught red-handed as they attempted to ransack a vehicle parked near the Caminito, with booty from robberies carried out in Fuengirola and Mijas earlier the same day discovered in their car.
A subsequent search on their homes resulted in many other items being recovered, and the villains have now been imprisoned.
