SANTOMERA: The epicentre of the mini-quake.

AN EARTHQUAKE with a magnitude of 2.2 was registered by the National Geographic Institute on Sunday November 6 at around 9pm in the Vega Baja.

The quake’s epicentre was the Murcia municipality of Santomera, although various residents of such towns as Orihuela, Callosa de Segura and Almoradi reported having felt its effects.

The University of Alicante’s Seismic Register Unit indicated that these little earthquakes are actually a good sign, as they help release tension from the ground and prevent larger earthquakes from occurring.
