IN July of this year, in edition 1611 of Euro Weekly News it was reported that 38-year-old Norman Fowler had been arrested and bailed by the Guardia Civil in respect of irregularities over a gun licence and that he was also wanted by police in the UK in respect of an outstanding arrest warrant in respect of fraud.
Now in October, the Essex police have released a statement saying “A man wanted by police in Essex and Norfolk in connection with fraud offences has been arrested. “Norman Fowler, 38, was detained in Spain on October 10 after a European Arrest Warrant was made.
“He was wanted for fraud using Gumtree and Ebay totalling £21,000 (€23,500) with at least nine victims. “He remains in custody in Spain and extradition proceedings are still underway.”
It appears that Mr Fowler has been convicted of a number of offences of fraud going back to 2008 and in December 2014, he was convicted of theft in his absence at Norwich Crown Court and sentenced to nine months in prison.
