AN explosion and the resulting fire which occurred at 8.40 am on Sunday September 18 in a building in the centre of Premia de Mar in Catalonia has left at least one dead and 15 injured, according to the emergency services.
It appears that a number of ambulances as well as an emergency helicopter together with fire fighters, local police and officers of the Mossos D’Esquadra attended and evacuated surrounding buildings.
Of those injured two are said to be in a serious condition although a number of those involved and their neighbours are also being attended by psychologists due to the mental trauma caused.
Fires were brought under control relatively quickly and investigations are now taking place as to the cause of the explosion.
