PREVIOUS MAYOR: Jose Alberto Armijo was in charge in 2013.
THE mayor of Nerja, Rosa Arrabal, may be in hot water after a prosecutor officially denounced her in a Torrox court.
She is accused of ‘grave disobedience of authority’ following her decision to delay three final payments required in order to expropriate land to build the town’s long-mooted water treatment plant.
Arrabal has expressed her shock at the charges, since the money was paid in full in November 2015, just five months after she came into office.
“The payment was not settled in 2013, 2014, or 2015 by the previous Popular Party council, who left behind enormous debts,” she said.
“If I have to testify in court, I will be delighted to explain the three payments, totalling €1.08 million are paid, and now we are waiting for the liquidation of interest payments that were accrued after the money was not sent in mid-2013, for which previous mayor, Jose Alberto Armijo, was responsible.”
