NATIONAL POLICE investigators have confirmed that a partially decomposed body found in Velez-Malaga by a municipal worker on Monday, September 5, is that of 77-year-old Porfirio Gutierrez, who had been missing since March.
His remains were found near El Romeral School, beside a fence that separates the building from an adjacent housing estate.
Relatives of the deceased confirmed his identification on Tuesday, September 6, recognising the clothes he was wearing when he vanished.
Mr Gutierrez suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and was reported missing in March. He had died of natural causes.
leading to a 50-strong search team unsuccessfully combing the area around his home. A post mortem has concluded that he died of natural causes.
