Borja Martiarena and Albert Costa.
ECOVIDRIO, the non-profit organisation in charge of managing glass recycling in Spain, has teamed up with the Senior Masters Cup tennis tournament to be held at Puente Romano Tennis Club in Marbella later in the month to raise awareness of the importance of recycling.
The agreement will see glass recycling containers put in place all over the tennis club, while videos on the subject will be screened.
The campaign will also hit the streets of the Costa del Sol with special containers encouraging people to recycle and help collect sufficient glass to fabricate the trophies for the tournament.
The Senior Masters Cup, organised by Albert Costa, will run from September 22-24 and will see tennis legends John McEnroe, Yannick Noah and Mats Wilander take to the courts and join the challenge to recycle glass used at the event.
Borja Martiarena, head of marketing at Ecovidrio, said: “The people of Malaga will be able to feel victorious as their efforts will help provide the trophies.”
Albert Costa added: “This agreement is very positive – it is important for us all to be conscious of the importance of recycling and we at the Senior Masters Cup are very happy to be able to run this campaign alongside Ecovidrio.”
