LUCKY ESCAPE: The incident could easily have ended in tragedy.

AN 11-YEAR-OLD English boy who is on holiday with his family in Nerja on the Costa Tropical is out of hospital after plummeting some five metres down what is being described as “a rocky area” just after midnight on Sunday, August 14.

The fall knocked the stricken child unconscious, but his injuries are not said to be too serious considering the height from which he fell.

He was apparently playing near the rocks when he tripped and tumbled close to Salon beach, with an ambulance quickly on the scene to transfer him to the Regional Hospital of Axarquia, arriving at casualty at 1.20am.

Fortunately, he was discharged at 5.45am having been treated for minor cuts and bruises on various parts of his body, with medical staff describing the incident as a lucky escape.
