10th Madbear Beach Festival is in town

BEACH FESTIVAL: First time it has been supported by the local council.

THIS week sees the launch of the 10th Madbear Beach festival, which sees an influx of up to 6,000 large and hairy gay men (known as Bears) into the town for the festival which lasts until August 16.

This year is the first time that this important festival which attracts visitors from all over Europe has been supported by the local council and at the public announcement of the event, Councillor César Carrasco, said “we are committed to enhancing Torremolinos as a welcoming gay tourism destination in Europe, with the consequent economic impact that this represents for entrepreneurs in the municipality.”

There will be events during the day at the El Bajondillo beach whilst evenings will see a number of DJs appearing in various night spots in La Nogalera. Once this week is completed there will be similar events both in Spain and throughout Europe where Torremolinos will be promoted to the LGBT community as a friendly and welcoming town which supports a number of gay events during the year.
