IMPROVEMENTS to the sewage system are being made in Orihuela.
Councillor for the Environment, Miguel Angel Fernandez, said the latest works will take place in Calles San Gregorio and San Juan and have been funded through the Renewal Fund Sanitation available annually from city hall, with work being carried out by Hidraqua.
“There are some important works being carried out which will improve existing lines to avoid future problems, so it is a preventive action, given the age of the pipes as they were installed more than 40 years ago and have shown deterioration,” said the councillor.
Replacing sewage lines of 173m in Calle San Gregorio will cost €70,551 and the 372m in Calle San Juan has a budget of just under €150,000.
Work is due for completion at the end of August.
