COPA DEL REY MAPFRE: King Felipe presented the trophy in Palma.

FOLLOWING the success of the Les Roches-Puente Romano Marbella yacht representing the Real Club Maritimo Sotogrande (RCMS) in winning the Herbal Life J80 competition at the recent Copa del Rey Mapfre in Palma and receiving the trophy from King Felipe, the RCMS now turns to its own regatta which runs until at August 15.

Now in its 17th year, boats of different clubs around the Andalucian coast will flock to Sotogrande to try to win the prestigious cup.

This year for the second time, the first day will be reserved for catamarans, of which 20 are expected to participate in the ‘Memorial Antonio Muñoz Cabrero’ challenge, named after the founder of the club and a big fan of these vessels.

The second and third day the race will run as in previous years with different categories of yachts with more than 40 different vessels taking place.

With what is expected to be a good few days of weather, this should be an ideal venue for both those participating in the regatta and spectators who should be able to get a great view of the races.
