TRADE BOOST: Indicates a clear and consolidated recovery of the sector.
SMALL businesses have reported a boost in trade in Mallorca. Around 60 per cent of retailers said they had improved their results in July compared to the same month last year and only 10 per cent said sales were down.
Pimeco small business association said the data “indicates a clear and consolidated recovery of the sector and a greater willingness to purchase by customers resident in Mallorca.” They added that “we have more people working and less unemployment” resulting in a stronger spending power.”
The report prepared by Pimeco focused primarily on shoe and clothes shops but said results across the rest of the sector were “very similar.”
