Goodbye to a much-loved man

DOZENS of people gathered today (Friday August 12) to pay their respects to a Mojacar resident and Albox businessman who lost his life last Saturday night.

Gary Myatt, owner of telecommunications company, Albox Online, was tragically killed in a motorbike accident on a road in Mojacar.

The funeral was held at the Anglican church of San Pascual de Baylon, in Agua de Enmedio, on the outskirts of Mojacar.

Gary’s family, friends and customers turned out to say goodbye to the popular, well-known man who leaves behind a wife and three young children.

Gary’s young son, Jack, helped bear the coffin carrying his father into the church.

The funeral was conducted by Duncan Burr and a reading was given by Gary’s wife, Kerry, who described him as “her rock.” A couple of Gary’s friends also gave readings.

A great music-lover, Gary was a big supporter of many local bands and in honour of his passion for music, classic rock tunes were played during the service, including Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven.’

Following the funeral, a small gathering was held at Mimi’s bar, in Mojacar.
