Fire in bar in Rouen kills 13 at birthday party

THOUGHT to have been caused by candles on a birthday cake, which set fire to polystyrene ceiling tiles, 13 people have been killed and at least six injured in a conflagration in the basement of the Cuba Libre bar in the city of Rouen.

There is no question of terrorism according to Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve who advised that 50 fire fighters attended the blaze and did all that they could to rescue the party goers wTHOUGHT to have been caused by candles on a birthday cake, which set fire to polystyrene ceiling tiles, 13 people have been killed and at least six injured in a conflagration in the basement of the Cuba Libre bar in the city of Rouen.

Although the most likely explanation for the high numbers of fatalities is that they were asphyxiated due to fumes coming from the burning polystyrene, one report suggests that rather than burning candles, there might have been a gas explosion, but this will no doubt be explained by survivors as well as a thorough forensic investigation.

Of those taken to hospital, one is said to be in a very serious condition.ho were said to be aged between 18 and 25.
