Blood on the road

ALMERIA Province boasts of managing to be self-sufficient where blood donations are concerned, and to ensure this continues to be the case over the summer holidays the provincial transfusion centre is going on the road visiting popular holiday destinations so those who give have no excuse not to continue doing so in August.

There will be 24 collections at health centres and other facilities across the province this month, with the exact dates and locations available via www.transfusion.granada-almeria.org or through the Dona Sangre Andalucia mobile application.

Although blood donations are vital to ensure hospitals have enough to save lives, readers are advised to check whether they are eligible to give blood in advance as Spain follows EU restrictions on accepting blood from people who have lived in the UK in the past due to mad cow disease transmission risks.
