Suggestion: PSOE’s Manuel Zamora (right) put forward the idea.
A MUCH-LOVED and well-known Mojacar character is to receive an award posthumously.
Tito del Amo, who died last month, will be honoured with a ‘Golden Indalo’ award in the ceremony next year (2018).
Thanks to a suggestion put forward by social opposition group (PSOE) leader, Manuel Zamora, Mojacar Council agreed unanimously to bestow the honour onto the man, who played a big part in regeneration of the town in the 1970s.
Mayor Rosa Maria Cano explained the list for this year was already complete but the presentation would be given in the next edition of the awards.
The council also agreed to name a street after Del Amo as part of any future urban development and expansion.
