THE Guardia Civil became aware earlier this year of a new gang consisting of a combination of Britons and Spaniards involved in the sale of cocaine throughout Mallorca and with the co-operation of the National Police have made a number of arrests with large amounts of cocaine seized.
On Friday July 29, officers raided properties in Punta Ballena and Palma where five kilos of almost pure cocaine were seized together with mobile phones and €6,500 in cash. Up to 10 people are likely to be arrested following this operation and it is believed that this gang had become the main source of supply of the drug within Magaluf.
According to reports, the drugs were transported from South America via Galicia by private yachts and that whilst efficient in their dealing, it soon became common knowledge who was involved and even how drugs were sold by young ‘PRs’ trying to entice tourists into various clubs and bars.
