A LUCKY Brit has scooped £61.1 million by winning the Euromillions jackpot, matching the five main numbers and two lucky stars on the June 29 draw.
The winning numbers were 01, 21, 26, 40 and 50, and the lucky star numbers were 02 and 04.
A National Lottery spokesman said: “The UK’s lucky streak is never ending – the £61m EuroMillions jackpot is the fourth one to be won here this year.”
“As well as the huge jackpot, five players won a guaranteed £1m and a luxury trip to the Gold Coast in the UK Millionaire Maker.”
The fortunate winner, or winners, remain unnamed and may follow in the footsteps of a British victor in April who landed £51.8 million and preferred to keep their identity anonymous. A few weeks earlier another Brit won £24.6 million in Europe’s biggest bi-weekly lottery.
Though now wealthy beyond their dreams the wins still pale in comparison to the astonishing £161.6 million scooped up by Scottish couple Colin and Chris Weir from Ayrshire five years ago.
The couple have invested in various local charity endeavours and were also behind an estimated 79 per cent of funds raised to support the SNP’s independence campaign in 2014.
