Mullered mum abandons kids to go on the lash

A BRITISH mother of two was arrested in Finestrat, near Benidorm, for allegedly abandoning her two young children in an area full of bars so that she could go out drinking.

The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday (July 26), when the woman apparently handed her two sons – who are nine-year-old twins – some cash so that they could treat themselves to some food. Unfortunately for the two youngsters, when they came back their mother was nowhere to be found.

Eventually, one of the children was discovered wandering aimlessly around the streets of the resort searching for his mother. A passing couple asked the child what was happening and reported the incident to police.  

His brother was found several hours later sprawled exhausted at the entrance to their apartment after traversing the whole town.

The police subsequently began an extensive search for the mother, 40, who they ultimately discovered ‘sleeping peacefully’ at 8am the next morning in her holiday flat.

The children have since been taken to a child protection centre, and the mother has appeared before a judge, although the result of the hearing has not been made public.
