A welcome break from footy

LUSH: Gareth chills in San Roque.

REAL MADRID and Wales superstar Gareth Bale has gone for a jaunt around San Roque’s finest golf courses, following his recent engagement to childhood sweetheart and mother of his two daughters, Emma Rhys-Jones.

The world’s most expensive footballer jetted into Gibraltar before Royal Gibraltar police officers escorted him over the border, where a black Mercedes was waiting for him.

The Welsh wizard thus continues his pre-season battery charging after a long season which culminated in his beloved Dragons unexpectedly reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016, as he apparently plans to take in a hat-trick of the costa’s offerings, debunking the myth that the sport is the exclusive province of wealthy, middle-aged men.

Golf is one of Gareth’s main passions outside of football, and he has been busy promoting formats that will make the game more concise and zippier to play, in particular a six-hole version called ‘SPRINT6GOLF’, in which players are allowed just 30 seconds to execute their stroke, receiving a yellow card for the first offence of dilly-dallying, and a one-shot penalty for the second.

Having been pictured teeing off at St. Andrew’s last week, Bale continues his European grand tour by bringing his trusty irons to the Costa del Sol, where he and his wife-to-be are sure to prove a hit with the local paps.
