Segways
IN a more high tech version of recent events in Benidorm, where a number of mobility scooters are being barred from some of its streets, Prague has announced a ban on Segway’s on its public roads. The Czech capital has proposed the clampdown after numerous complaints regarding the two wheel upright vehicles clogging streets and pavements.
Many feel they are unsafe and that they have a tendency to attract younger riders and even stag and hen parties. The ban will take effect from August although companies involved in the rental of the vehicles are lodging formal protests. In Spain Segways are already banned in Barcelona and also in neighbour Gibraltar.
