A MARRIED couple has been arrested in Alicante accused of theft of plastic and wooden pallets. The woman’s 20-year-old son was also arrested.
Police recovered around 40 pallets, valued at approximately €2,000. The robberies were carried out across the province from industrial buildings, farms and even from some supermarkets in the towns of Callosa de Segura, San Miguel de Salinas, El Campello and Jijona.
The three detainees, of Spanish origin, would travel in a van during the day and take advantage of unguarded moments by workers, at which point they would quickly load the pallets on to the van, although on some occasions they forced entry onto premises through gates.
Police estimate damage caused to some establishments added up to losses of more than €3,000, not counting losses from delays in the normal working processes.
