A LUXURIOUS second edition of Don Quijote de la Mancha, dated 1880, came to light in Vera when members of the Soler family were clearing out a deceased relative’s home.
The book, printed in Barcelona and illustrated by Gustavo Doré, is in surprisingly good condition and the family hopes to be able to put it on display in the town, to allow Vera residents and visitors to see it for themselves.
This rare edition of the book is believed to have been in the same family since its publication, 136 years ago.Coincidentally, the book was discovered during the year of the 400th anniversary of the death of author Miguel de Cervantes.
