KYLE FALCONER, singer with The View, behaved in such a manner as to cause the captain of a flight from Reus (Catalonia) to Glasgow to divert to Nantes in France for him to be removed from the aircraft on June 17.
According to reports, he was said to be upset because he was not allocated a seat next to his girlfriend and rather than accept this, he simply sat next to her, becoming rude and abusive when asked by cabin crew to return to his allocated seat.
Whilst he appeared to calm down for a while, the captain decided that in accordance with the ‘zero tolerance’ policy of airline Jet2 that he was a potential danger to fellow passengers and therefore obtained permission to touch down at Nantes where he was removed from the aircraft in handcuffs by police.
A Jet2 spokesman said: “Our captain made the decision to divert the Reus to Glasgow flight LS122 to Nantes today after a male passenger became increasingly violent and disruptive on board. Our crew had no option but to take action for the continued safety of our customers and crew. He has now been offloaded in Nantes and handed over to the local authorities.”
There have been no comments made by the singer following his arrest, but the airline has announced that it intends to pursue him for the costs caused by his outburst and that the matter has been reported to the Scottish police.
