THE bench installed by a team of local firefighters at the peak of La Concha, high above Marbella in the Sierra Blanca mountains, in order to show solidarity for the Butterfly Skin Children’s Charity (DEBRA) has received its first celebrity guest.

Dutch footballing legend Ruud van Nistelrooy posted a series of images on his Instagram account on Saturday June 18, after he scaled the 1,275 metre massif to demonstrate his support for the initiative, adding both the #Bancosolidario hashtag and @PieldeMariposa tag to his photos.

This is no mean feat, as the route up to the peak is very steep in places, with rope climbing aids installed at some points, and it can be very hot indeed during summer, but the daring Dutchman, who has been living in Marbella since retiring in 2012, did not even appear to be out of breath.
