A NOVEL source of traffic congestion frustrated rush hour drivers in central Oviedo, Asturias on Friday June 3, as an escaped bull ambled its way through the northern city’s streets.
The animal itself was surprisingly calm as it dodged traffic, creating a tailback on Calle Muñoz Degrain at 8.40am, just as locals were attempting to arrive to work, with police cameras capturing the action as it sauntered across the busy dual carriageway.
An intrepid street cleaner eventually saved the day, as he managed to direct the burly bovine into a nearby park using his bucket and shovel, allowing motorists to continue their journey and ensuring neither man nor beast was injured.
Police managed to track down the fugitive’s owner, who quickly brought his truck to pick it up, returning it to its home farm in the nearby town of La Manjoya, with the carefree critter estimated to have strolled some 40 kilometres in the course of its early morning caper.
