It is unclear whether the two towel thieves were jailed.
TWO German tourists have been taken into custody following an altercation, after they tried to steal 10 beach towels from a small shop on Calle Mision de San Diego in El Arenal.
When the Hindu owner of the store noticed the sunbed-botherers making their getaway, he gave chase, at which point one of the raiders began to attack him, alerting a passing police patrol.
The Germans were charged with violent robbery, having apparently decided to commit the crime as part of a bet.
In further drama, two people were apprehended at dawn on Thursday June 2, as they were caught in the act of crawling across the sand to steal the belongings of amorous tourist couples who “flock to the beach to have sex” following the closure of nightclubs and bars in Palma de Mallorca.
