A POPULAR Mojacar restaurateur finished in the top 10 in a cooking competition in Memphis, Tennessee.
Kenny Bishop, owner and chef at the Cowboy Cocina on Mojacar Playa, came ninth in the barbecue cooking challenge at the annual ‘May in Memphis’ International festival.
Some 235 teams took part in the contest preparing a variety of smoked, grilled and barbecued meats which were presented to the judges.
Bishop was part of the Memphis-based, ‘Parrot head porkers’ team. This was not the first time he had been placed. In the 2010 event he came second with his team. Bishop’s speciality was pulled shoulder of pork in a secret sauce.
