Dutchman drops dead in Palma hotel

A DUTCH national died on Thursday (June 2) after collapsing in a hotel in Playa de Palma.

The 44-year-old, originally from the Dominican Republic, collapsed at the reception desk of a hotel in Calle Trasime (Arenal) at around 6am this morning after going to reception complaining that he felt ill.

The Homicide and Narcotics division of the National Police are investigating his death.  One hypothesis being considered is that the man had a bag of cocaine in his stomach which burst. A post mortem examination is being performed by the Institute of Legal Medicine to determine the cause.
