Why did the Spaniard cross the road?

VIDEO footage taken on the A7 motorway near Vicar, Almeria, depicts a mentally ill man playing a deadly game of chicken as he weaves in and out between the passing vehicles. The reason? The lure of a nice big spliff.

In the shocking video, the man narrowly avoids being mowed down by two cars going at 70mph in his relentless pursuit of his prize, a tantalising treat allegedly offered up by four Spanish youths who filmed his daring feat from their vantage point on the other side of the motorway.

The four youngsters were arrested after they subsequently posted the footage on WhatsApp and alluded to the fact that the man was a drug addict with a checkered past that included several criminal offences.

The youths, three in their twenties and one 16, are under investigation for allegedly endangering the lives of not only the man himself but also the drivers who could have been killed as a result of his reckless endeavour. The police have additionally argued that the youngsters exploited the man’s precarious mental state for their own selfish entertainment.

In the video itself, they can be heard referring to the man as a ‘son of a b***h’ and expressing their amazement and disbelief that he is performing such a perilous exploit for the sake of a mere joint.

Once he finally makes it to the other side, they give him a hearty round of applause before posing for selfies with the visibly disheveled and confused man.

At the end of the video, they ask him if he has anything to add, and the man only shouts out, “F***them!”
