A 57-YEAR-OLD swimmer was pronounced dead on Saturday (May 28) at La Carihuela Beach in Torremolinos.
According to reports from Emergency Services 112 Andalucia, the man was apparently enjoying a dip at the beach around 1.40pm, before people noticed his lifeless body in the water.
Local and National Police and medical workers went to the scene, where they verified that the man was dead. At the moment the specifics behind the man’s death remain unclear.
The incident is far from the first of its type this season. Several swimmers have died at beaches in the Canary Islands in the last several weeks, and this is the second fatality at La Carihuela Beach this season, following another death that occurred on May 5.
