UPDATE:

THE man has been named as Andrew Phillips, a father-of-two and bricklayer, who had just checked into the room with a group of friends on his first night in Mallorca when he fell from the first floor balcony.

His parents Joanne and Peter have now flown out to be at his bedside, with his mother saying that he son is in a serious, but non-life threatening condition after he was placed in an induced coma when doctors spotted blood on his brain.

He apparently suffered multiple facial and head fractures, but his body was not hurt.

A 25-YEAR-OLD British tourist is in critical condition after falling from a balcony in Magaluf.

The incident occurred at the TRH Magaluf Hotel on Wednesday May 25 just after 7.30pm.  According to emergency services, the young man suffered a head injury and facial trauma.  He was taken to Son Espases Hospital by ambulance.

Due to the severity of his injuries, hospital staff activated ‘trauma code’ protocol for priority attention on arrival to hospital.

It appears that the accident is the result of ‘balconing’ in which participants jump from balcony to balcony or from a balcony into a pool below. Preliminary investigations by the Guardia Civil indicate that he had been drinking.
